Hi, I have been trying to start 'Freckled Romaine Lettuce' for a while...I was so excited and stoked about themse types of Lettuces just because they're just so unique. I was wondering if anyone has any expierence with growing these?

The first batch that I began from 'Freckled Romaine' failed...there was either too much sun or too much water, I'm not sure why they turned wilted and brown. So, I tried to start more from seed...but that time I scattered most of them out and some are in cells.

So, today I went the nursury and purchased types of Freckled Lettuces...the info on them had information on them about being brought to America through 'Amish' and 'Mennonite' settlers, they were from Holland and Germany...I can't remember which ones came from where...one's a "Freckled Romaine" and anothers seed pack I used is a "Speckles Butterhead.

Well, if anyone has expierence with growing these-any advice would help, it's my first time growing them.

Thanks Kind Liffers,

Julie S:)

If your lettuce leaves are wilted and brown, you may have aphids or a fungi. Those 2 that I know of make lettuce leaves turn brown & wilt. You can buy organic sprays from any lawn & garden store. Organic sprays are kind to your plants, not like those strong pesticides. I also mix dish detergent and water in my sprayer to get rid of aphids & other little insects.
