Question for the crafty ones!

Are there any crafty people here? If so, I'd love your input on this - I've always wanted to get started on crocheting, but it seems like the costs of yarn rack up after a while. What do you do to offset the costs of knitting supplies? Are there any particular sites that you shop from? My friend recommended me this site, but I'd love to hear any other recommendations. Thanks!
