Hi Everyone,

I have been following this blog for quite sometime and have found it very inspiring. My husband and I have both decided to commit to going vegan. I very much enjoy eating fresh produce and was never been a big meat eater. I thought this would be a fairly easy transition for me. However, I am 1 week in and am really struggling and not because of cravings for food I shouldn't eat. I constantly feel hungry. Even right after I eat a meal it just doesn't fill me up. The most worrisome issue is I feel light headed most of the day, like my body is missing some vital nutrient I am depriving it of. I would very much like to stick with this, but I wonder is there anyone else out there that is having a similar experience? Is it just a matter of my body getting use to it?

What are your thoughts?

If you haven't read The Kind Diet, it might be a good idea as she covers this type of thing in her book plus most other questions you might have ... I still find it handy to refer to and read every now and then. Re being hungry and lightheaded ... it generally is just your body adjusting to a new fuel so to speak ... try to eat more often until your body adjusts, pretty soon you won't be hungry all the time but one of the perks to this diet I think is that you can snack as often as you like and not feel guilty if you're eating the right foods .... but in this beginning phase, eat as much as you need of veggies/beans/grains etc and bake some healthy muffins for extra snacks or make some hummous to eat with veggies or have a handful of nuts ... things like that help alot in-between meals ... and also read as much as you can about your new diet and lifestyle as it makes it much easier, blogs, recipe books, TKD, etc. Hope that helps!!

Hi Kirsty,

Thanks for your response. I do have the The Kind Diet and I will reread it as you suggested. Thanks for all your suggestions and I will definitely be using them!
