I haven't had any meat (beef, pork, chicken, all sea creatures, etc.) in 2 & half years. I did eat cheese & egg occasionally. Never really craved it, just used it in cooking mostly. After switching to a vegan lifestyle, I have been getting crazy headaches off & on. I woke up once with a headache. I thought maybe I was not drinking enough water & started drinking more water. I visited my eye doctor & my eyes are fine. Closing my eyes & lying in the dark in silence is just not working. Still headaches. I'm trying to stay away from taking medication & getting rid of the headaches naturally. Any suggestions?

I suggest that you eat kudzu with ginger at the time of the headaches or before going to bed. Also try to eliminate all unhealthy vegan stuff like vegan cup cake, vegan cheesecake, vegan cookies, and vegan pizza, eat more nutrient-dense foods like kale, box choy... quinoa, buckwheat and sprout brown rice, at the grocery store where I work, the most expensive grocery store in the nation at time I have vegan customers like you who suffer from headaches, this is what I tell them to do, again I am sure you can beat your headaches with nutritious foods, I mean the real foods that have vitamins, fiber, antioxidants, phytochemicals and minerals, JUNK like Daiya cheese should not be in your diet, we have a lot daiya cheese in our stores, we made a lot of money by selling these even though we know very well that they are very and very bad but people want it we are forced to sell it, we sell a lot of vegan foods in the prepared food section, but you have to be careful because most of them are junk, try as much as you can to prepare food at home, vegan has little to do with healthy, do not be fooled by the label, the producer use this label to increase sale and make people think it is healthy, deep fries french fry and soda and chips all are 100 % vegan but they are bad for you. Good Luck and stay Healthy.

Have you tried topical application of lavender essential oil or taking feverfew (herb) to combat the headaches? Those are two natural remedies you might try.

Also, many people significantly increase their gluten intake when they go vegan (from eating more pastas and breads, and fake meats). Do you think this could be the case for you? If so, you might try cutting back on gluten (or eliminating it for a few weeks) to see if it makes a difference. Soy is also in a lot of vegan foods and could be the culprit. Both of these foods can increase inflammation or cause symptoms in folks who have a sensitivity to them.

Another possibility -- when did you give up dairy (since you mentioned you were still eating it occasionally before going vegan)? If you just recently stopped eating dairy, it is possible that your headaches are part of your bodies detoxification process -- however, if it was not really recent (like the last few weeks), then that would not be the case.

And I have to ask the obvious one -- did you happen to give up caffeine at the same time you went vegan? Because that would definitely give you headaches while you go through withdrawal if you were a big caffeine drinker.
