My 5 year old daughter Emma was at Johns Hopkins Hospital from 12/27/2011-2/17/2012 with bacterial meningitis from an ear infection. She coded twice and we are so lucky she is alive today. It was discovered that she has DiGeorge Syndrome which is an immune issue and renders children more likely to develop severe infections. I was already interested in eating more veggies as I have already cut out red meat but upon reading this book and others' I am just now starting our family in a transition to a vegan diet.

I want Emma to have the best chance at not getting sick again and was so interested to find out how food can boost your immune system! My girl is most likely not going to be pleased at first but hopefully with a slow transition and a little patience we will all be healthier eaters.

I loved this book and it's my constant reference. Easy to read, full of great information and recipes. Loved it!

I appreciate your sharing and feel just awful about your experience with your daughter. I know how scary these situations can be as I have a sister who has some health issues that has rendered us in this place many a time. Thanks for recommending the book. I've been thinking of buying it. I wish you all the best!
