Hello!

I want to get super fit and have been researching body building. BUT I don't really want to be a bodybuilder per say, I guess the images of the fitness models is more what I had in mind. Anyway, I am looking to decrease fat % and increase lean muscle mass and had some questions regarding macro ratios and calorie reqs when you want to lose fat but also increase lean muscle mass. I have checked out veganbodybuilding.com but am looking for more information or people who are vegan and personal trainers!!

I have about 10-15 lbs of fat I want to lose.

Thanks!

Hi freebird. I love your goals. I wish I had really great specific information for you - hopefully others will join the conversation - I'm not a personal trainer (more of a fitness enthusiast) & just want to chime in. I love rock climbing & that's what I train to do. I don't know my body fat %, but I am on the leaner side. I'm strong though, so it's definitely possible to GAIN strength & muscle on a vegan diet. I try to eat really clean: whole foods, mostly fruit & vegetables... I used to be more concerned with "getting enough protein", but now I wonder if the protein myth really is just pushed on us. My strength has only increased, even though I'm not eating loads of protein.
I'm not sure what to share since I don't have ratios to give you. I know I'm not answering your question well at all, & maybe I shouldn't even respond. I thought maybe we could start a conversation & see where it leads from there. I'm happy to offer what works for me - I'm just not strict about exact ratios & such. Cheers!

Freebird -

Robert (from the site you visited - veganbodybuilding.com) is a super nice guy. I bet if you hit him up on Twitter (@RobertCheeke), he could either answer some of your questions or refer you to other sites/blogs that might better suit your needs.

Actually, if you are on Twitter, there are a ton of folks on there who are either vegan and really into fitness or are vegan and personal trainers - I bet that would be a good place to find some folks who can point you in the right direction. People like @seano4fitness and @vbbbook would probably be good to follow. I follow both of them plus some others that I just can't think of right now.

Hope that helps some - AJ
