For as long as I've been vegan, I've known about raw veganism but always thought it was super restrictive and impossible for me to do. Now, while I still don't want to go 100% raw, I had a realization today. For roughly a week or so now, I've been on what I would call an 80% raw vegan diet! I started making a lot of green smoothies, and the only thing that goes into them that's not raw is a splash of soy milk and occasionally some peanut butter (but I'm trying to use that as little as possible). Aside from that I have rice and tofu and that's about it as far as processed foods.
The rest of it consists of veggies from my garden or the grocery store (once I have my car back hopefully I'll have at least a few weeks left to hit up this years farmer's market).
I was just really excited and wanted other people to be excited. Before this my diet was a lot of chick'n and veganaise and pizza and it just wasn't really doing me justice.
Cool! I have also been eating alot more raw lately but also don't want to go 100% I've been mainly doing it for lunches at work as it's easy to pack. I'm thinking that during the summer months your body automatically craves it too ... I am just waiting for my weather to warm up for good!
