Hi everyone,

I started eating a vegan diet about a month ago and have noticed excessive bloating that just doesn't go away! Is this normal and will this go away by itself?

Hi Jane,

I think it probably is as your body is acclimating itself to a whole new diet. When I first started eating a mostly vegan diet, I was bloated and gassy for about a month. It will pass (ha!) once your body is used to the new you. At least it did in my case. That first month was tough though!

I'm having the same issue 2 weeks in to the diet. It may also be PMS related but it's pretty uncomfortable :-(
I'm planning to stick it out for at least 2 more weeks before I make adjustments - not sure what those will be!

Thanks Immurshun. I came off the diet as I was on vacation for a week but will be going back on track. I expect I will be bloated again for a month but it's reassuring to know that it's only a temporary phase!

PinkJoJo, hopefully Immurshun is right and we will both not have an extra 10 inches on our waist!

I've also been eating a lot of broccoli this week, which is not even on Alicia's top 5 veggie list. It has always given me trouble, so I will be cutting it out for a while.
