I'm new to the site too. We are a non vegetarian family who's oldest child (14 year old daughter) is going vegetarian. A friend sent me Alicia's book to get me started...and now I'm convinced that we should ALL move into vegetarianism and then onto vegan! My husband and kids are lactose intolerant, so you would THINK that would make it easier...but we still do cheese, yogurt and lactose free milk. Right now I'm just trying to find vegan/vegetarian recipes and ideas for meals. If I can find recipes that the whole family enjoys, and continually pull from them, I know we won't miss the meat as much. We aren't red meat, pork or fish eaters anyway...just poultry with an occasional burger. I'm curious how my 6 year old will adapt to this! ha, ha! When her older sister declared she wants to be a vegetarian, my 6 year old said, 'well then I want to be a carnivore! I hate veggies!" Great...;)
Any yummy recipes or ideas would be SO helpful! We live in Perth, Australia at the moment (we're Americans) so finding the exotic stuff is pretty difficult. I'm sure there are places SOMEWHERE out here to find all the things Alicia uses a lot but I haven't found it yet.
I just signed up with The Kind Life tonight. I am very excited to embark on my new journey to become vegan. My husband loves meat and wants it for every meal, but my daughter is (10 yrs) open to living a vegan lifestyle, so that is one hurtle I don't have to face.
