I have been wanting a tattoo for years and finally decided on one that I wanted to get. However, I had learned that tattoo ink is generally not vegan and contains glycerin that is animal based; black ink usually contains bone chard. I discovered certain inks that are vegan (there are some all vegan tattoo parlors as well) --but in my research have also learned that tattoo ink does not have to list ingredients (since tattoo inks are not FDA approved) and contain various kinds of carcinogenous chemicals which can spread to the lymphatic system and cause all sorts of damage... I have read about serious allergic reactions to the chemicals in the ink. I don't really don't doubt that this is true since I know the FDA allows the use of many known toxic chemicals (illegal in most european countries) into cosmetics. But....it seems as if everyone has tattoos and I don't know anyone that has had a bad reaction. I am fairly health conscious with what I eat and put on my body. I'd be really curious to hear others input on this. Would you still get a tattoo knowing this information?
