Hi to all of you awesome vegetarian/vegans!

As a new vegan and after finding Alicia's great site/forum, I just felt like I HAD to share these amazing and extremely healthy breads from grindstone bakery. I am originally from Denmark where we eat a very "ancient"/healthy form of rye breads. They are very high in fibers and (to me at least) tastes incredible!! They are organic and made without "modern-wheat". I can highly recommend the Sprouted Seed Spelt Loaf and Multigrain Spelt loaf. There are also Banana Barley breads and lots of gluten free options! They also have Vegan/gluten-free cookies - haven't tasted them yet though - but def. will!! I have been eating their bread for about a year now - lived in CA beforehand, where I found them in a store, but after moving to D.C. area (just a few weeks ago), I am going to start ordering them online through their website: http://grindstonebakery.com

On their website you can read about the bakery and their methods, and they tell you every single detail (almost) about their ingredients in their products on the website as well as all the benefits of eating these breads!

Another fun fact about these breads/kinds of breads is that when Oprah Winfrey a few years back made a show about her trip to Denmark she tasted this bread and LOVED it!! Even brought some with her home :-) Okay enough jibber-jabber...

If you are thinking about purchasing one of these breads - store it in your refrigerator! What I usually do is cut it up right when I get it - into about a little less than half an inch slices, take half and put it into two separate zip-locks - put one half in the freezer and the other in the refrigerator. If you find them a bit dry after having them in the fridge you can easily toast them a little and they will get a little crisp. The half in the freezer you can take out slices the night before and put it in the fridge and they will last for days and days. I usually eat the bread with hummus/pesto's of all kinds/olive tapenade/vegan butter by itself/potato slices/vegan butter+cucumber slices and my favorite avocado slices with a little salt and peber :-)! So good!

Hope some of you out there will give them a try even though the price is a bit high! They will truly help you get a lot of nutrients and are great for a snack with some humus or so or even in a bigger portion for breakfast/lunch/dinner.

Plz let me know if you have tried them or have Q-tions :-)!

Laerke Jensen :-)
