Hi all!

I have been a vegetarian since this past June and have recently switched over to veganism. Going vegetarian was pretty easy
and I find veganism to be almost as easy except for when I get an occasional craving for some cheese. I have tried some vegan cheeses and non of them have really hit the spot yet. Any suggestions to what works best when or if you have a craving for some good cheese?
Otherwise, being vegan has really helped me become more aware of my presence on this earth and I love finding new ways and products that are better for the environment! I am so excited to be involved on this site and connect with all of you inspiring vegans out there!

Hi Nicolette ... congrats on making the switch!! I didn't really crave cheese so can't help you there but perhaps have something else that's delicious in the fidge like homemade hummous or something else that you love that you can eat instead so that you're not left empty handed when a craving hits. If you've always got something good to eat, it's alot easier. Good luck! Kirsty

I think Cheese is the one thing that most people struggle with when going Vegan. I thought it was going to be more difficult for me but I found that the healthier I had the less I wanted it. I believe that having Hummus and Pita as a snack is a really good way to get pass the cheese thing. I think at first I lived on hummus and pita and veggies :)....The only vegan cheese I like is Daiya Cheese, I like to add it to a Papa John's cheeseless veggie pizza and toast it in the oven. I only have this as a treat every once in a while...also the Tofuit cream cheese is pretty good for a bagel if you are in the mood. I try and save these types of things for treats or if the family is having pizza or bagels and I want to join in.

Thanks for the tips! I have an obsession with Whole Food's Fresh guacamole and pita chips-- I will definitely try the hummus for sure!

Hello, I too have just made the plunge from being a part time pescetarian for two and a half years (which now I look at as just a stepping stone, still so very unhealthy) to just recently the final switch to vegetarian and very quickly vegan. I have a culinary background but find this lifestyle so vast with so much to learn, I feel that I'm learning to cook all over again and when I had gone from being a chef who had her hands in food all the time to a manager I'm enjoying getting back into the kitchen and working with raw and new ingredients again.

I didn't find the cheese part to be all that difficult but eggs, they and dairy are in so many food products. I now make almost everything for me and my husband as to avoid processed foods but when in a hurry and wanting to grab something or when out to eat it amazes me and I've never realized just how much animal product is in....EVERYTHING - no wonder everyone is so sick.

Well I'm up for the challenge and so pleased to have found this site - I've wanted to purchase The Kind Diet ever since it's come out and now have it and love it - I look forward to the support of everyone here.

I'm happy to now be a part of a kinder life too!
