Just retired in January (as a teacher) and have been wanting to change my diet for some time now. I can't seem to lose those 10 pounds!! Looking for a source for vegan foods.

Exactly my position...retired end of March 2012 and gradually modified my diet, flirting, eliminating red meat, poultry and dairy. I have lost 25 lbs and feel better than ever and think I look better, too! Certainly have more energy....makes me wonder after working as a nurse for 40 years how on earth did I manage on my old diet.

Sorry, Diane...I forgot to give my sources...I live in a rural area able to get fresh fruits, veggies, bake my own breads and really haven't had to rely on supermarkets. Our grocers in the area do seem to have a good selection of vegan and organic foods and we have some small health food shops that are always happy to help. In truth, my new diet has not been too much of a leap for me: I never used "convenience" foods, avoided processed items, tried to cook everything from 'scratch.' My weight loss, I assume is due to the reduction in fats I was getting in meats and dairy foods.
