Hi, my name is Shannon. I've been reading the forum for a while, but have finally decided to join and post. I've been trying to transition to a vegan diet for some time. It's been difficult since I don't know any vegetarians, and I have lots of food sensitivities so I haven't had anybody to bounce ideas off of. Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself. Looking forward to being a part of this community.

Hi Shannon ... have you read TKD or any other vegan books yet? TKD is a nice gentle way of starting out ... I still find it a great resource and not pushy in any way. There are also loads of blogs, cookbooks and DVDs like Vegucated you could look at to help you with information. I didn't know any vegans either when I started but I've joined the local vegan society and meet-up groups and I am slowly getting to know more people. Maybe do a search and see what's in your city?? Maybe also just keep your food really simple and straight-forward in the beginning ... it helps with the detox and transition and might also help with any food sensitivities you have so you aren't looking for substitutes etc. Good luck! Kirsty

Hi Kirsty. I've read the TKD and watched Forks Over Knives;both which I enjoyed. I think I'm going to be using Dr. Fuhrman's produce and bean based diet, because like you suggested it's simple and straight forward. I'll have to start looking for a vegan meet-up group in my area. Thanks for all the ideas! :) Shannon

Hi Shannon! My name is Shannon, too! I'm stuck in Delaware and I don't know a lot of vegetarians here, either. I know a vegan and some vegetarians, and a bunch of "vegetarians" that eat fish and chicken stock. It's a lonely world but I'm so in it, I'm never looking back.

Hi Shannon! I'm in Illinois. I'm in it for the long hall, too. It's been a struggle, but so worth it. Good Luck!
