Beginnings of malnutrition...or worse?

I've really messed up my diet lately. I'm in the middle of an extremely busy semester and there have been many days where I'll go 8-12 hours or longer without eating. I feel like I'm wasting away. I really just haven't had time to cook, so I'm either prioritizing class or sleep over eating, or I'm eating on the go when my options are scarce. Now when I get hungry it's this powerful, painful sort of hunger. I feel completely off balance. I'm getting extremely strong cravings for tofu, beans, and unfortunately (and most extremely) eggs. I'm trying to figure out what it is I need to do (in addition to eating regularly, of course) to get myself back on track. I feel like I may be severely lacking some nutrients even though I supplement regularly. I've been vegan almost 3 years and have never felt like this. Something feels very wrong. Any advice?

Hey Brittany,

Sounds like you are craving protein. You may want to keep some trail mix handy.. I mix pistachios, dry roasted pumpkin seeds, raisins and dark chocolate chips, super satisfying and filling. Set a reminder on your phone for every three hours and keep healthy snacks in your bag so you can't forget to eat! Feel better!

Are you feeling any better?

Dear Brittany,
No stress :) It's a journey :)
Maybe have your blood values checked just in case? B12 amongst other things.

Hmm it'd be tricky to eat well if you don't have time to make meals..
maybe you can use Sunday night to make batches of stuff? Like rice or quinoa.. and then just steam up some veg and have it with beans and tahini in ur lunchbox....
And if you really don't have time maybe just get the best possible option at takeaway... things will calm down :)
Good luck!
Much love

I'm feeling a lot better actually, thanks for asking. It was difficult, but once I made time to cook and eat I felt a lot better. It's still difficult to eat as regularly and normally as I do when I'm not in school (that's a whole other issue), but I don't feel sick anymore. It just gets to be kind of a disaster when my schedule fills up. When I wrote the first post I was spending 12 hrs out of the house a day. Then because of my budget grocery shopping is limited and since I'm vegan, so are my options at the dining hall. I'm thinking I may make a bunch of soups and such to stick in the freezer while I'm on winter break.
