So I am deciding between raw vegan and superhero. But I'm confused. Alicia says she switched to macro because she feels more balanced and grounded eating what is local and seasonal. What about the exotic magic foods like umeboshi plums and sea vegetables? They are not local to me. I have to get them online. Also i can't find kubocha squash or lotus root. Isn't this the same as eating coconuts and mangoes on raw? Any thoughts?! I need help.

Great question about the plums and sea veggies not being local! I wonder that myself. I think this macro diet is only local to japan. So, why should we eat them, here in the US if they're not local? Like the example she gave of eating pineapple in NY, how that was not local so it wasn't good for her body. I'm confused myself.

Thanks Esperanza! Glad I'm not the only confused one! So are you doing macro?

Hi Molly & Esperanza :-)

The idea of eating local is the fruits and vegetables - fresh produce - that are local to you and your country.
Dried staple goods - rice, seaweed and pickles etc - for example, are not affected in the form of their balance etc as they are not fresh.
Fruit & veggies have to be stored in freezers and fridges, transported many miles, stored in more fridges, before you even buy them, so that affects the nutritional quality and balance / energy of the food......

Hope that makes sense... :-)

It also has some to do with trying not to cause 10 million tons of additional carbon dioxide going into the air from the trucks & airplane fuel burned to bring "midwesterners" for example, California lettuce etc that can be had locally in the midwest. It is unreasonable when you think of it.
