Hi new here:) I'm not sure if this has already been covered, so sorry if I'm repeating topics. I just finished reading The Kind Diet and I'm so very excited. The one thing I'm concerned with though is the high amounts of arsenic in brown rice and rice products especially since I'm feeding it to my children. Alicia recommends brown rice frequently in her book. Is anyone else concerned? How much rice is safe to eat? Are certain brands better than others? Any ideas opinions would be helpful. Thanks!

Hi Allie, I called Ludenberg Rice in CA to find the answers. There is arsenic in the soil. Be sure to wash your rice very well prior to cooking it. A wire strainer works well. You'd have to eat a crazy amount of rice for the arsenic to effect you. Something like 40 cups in one day. Customer service can answer any further questions you have.

I stick with Lundberg rice because they have a gluten free facility and to me, it tastes great.

Hi, thank you for your response! I already purchase Lundberg brand so that is good to know. I will have to be more diligent with washing the rice thoroughly though. Thanks again!

Here's an article I found before on it all that might help ...

Hopefully the rice people will start testing their product and then putting something on their package that says 'arsenic free' but I'm sure there are some rice producers that are okay, you just have to find out which ones and where they grow their rice perhaps as I think it all comes down to location/soil quality due to past mistakes with chemicals.
