Hello everybody….
I just wanted to introduce myself – I’m Jon, 32 years from Manchester, UK. I have been a meat and dairy consumer all my life until very recently when I decided to turn vegan!
It was after watching documentaries like ‘food Inc.’ and reading ‘Eating Animals’ that started me on this journey – however, it was not until I read ‘The Kind Diet’ that I took the leap – a fascinating book which quite brilliantly highlights the important issues and also provides information for the making the change!
I must admit I am currently struggling, mainly because all of my colleagues, friends and family are meat & dairy eaters! Also getting the appropriate nutrition is a worry as I am a amateur triathlete and a competitive squash player playing in the North West Counties League! However, with my resolve, and your help, I will prevail! (No doubt I will have many questions over the next few weeks and months.)
I am going to treat this lifestyle change as a project and keep reminding myself of the three reasons why I am doing this, my health, the environment and the welfare of animals.
Good luck to everybody and I hope to get to know some of you in the future.
All the best,
Jon.
Hi Jon!
I'm from Belgium and also vegan since quite recently (57 days to be exact). I know that people in your environment can make this lifestyle quite difficult. I am still trying to find a way to make people less aggressive towards this change of diet and towards my own enthusiasm with might give the impression of trying to ‘convert’ them to this diet. I don't think you will lack nutrients when you eat lots of grains and all kinds of vegetables, but it might be an idea to check with a docter after a few months. I am planning to do this myself somewhere around February or March.
Good luck with everything!
