Hormones out of balance?

Hi - I just wanted to get some ideas from others on an issue I am having, and see if anyone else has had a similar experience.

I'm guessing I'm having some trouble with my hormones perhaps being out of balance over the past handful of months. I am currently still breastfeeding my 18 month old (first/only child) about 3 times a day. My period has only returned shortly after his first birthday in the spring of this year. It came back normally for a few months and over the past 3-4 cycles I've been having awful cystic acne during ovulation week, and great skin during the week of menstruation. I also had an ultrasound done a few months back to investigate a "mass" on one of my ovaries (found near ovulation timing during my routine physical, the night of my physical I had extreme abdominal pain and nearly fainted). The results of the scan came back as "nothing remarkable". Since that night of awful pain I haven't had the abdominal tightness or pain during ovulation, however I'm still getting cystic acne during ovulation.

I've been vegan for the past year, vegetarian during my pregnancy, vegan prior and vegetarian for years prior to that. I don't think this is anything to do with soy consumption which I've read on a different post here pertaining to cystic acne. I do not take oral contraceptives.

Any ideas on how I could help my body out? Any foods or supplements I could take that are breastfeeding-friendly that could keep my hormones in a better balance?

Thanks for reading!

I don't know if this would be applicable for someone who is breastfeeding but as a natural supplement i don't see how it could be harmful in any way. I have had awful period abdominal pains for years and found out it was the result of an imbalance in hormones. Since being recommended by a friend and my mother to take 'Evening Primrose Oil', I have witnessed a staggering difference. I went from laying in agony for hours, faintness and nausea to literally minimal pain. It is easy to have in capsule form or just as an oil you can add to any meal as a tablespoonful. I'm not saying that it will work for you, but in terms of hormones being out of balance, it may be something to look into! It has completely changed my life, I hope it can do the same for you!
