Iron and blackstrap molasses...

This past summer I was having some health issues, heart palpitations, that I was able to remedy with blackstrap molasses. Doing some research I discovered that outside of a steak blackstrap has just as much iron. There is a folk remedy called "pregnancy tea" that many women use after birthing that is great for getting iron levels up. Add 1 tsp of blackstrap molasses to a glass of warm water and a squirt of lemon juice and drink up! The vitamin C helps the body better absorb the iron (which is the same as I've seen mentioned here in TKD about having some Vitamin C when eating spinach or lentils).

One thing though is to pay attention to your body when taking the molasses. You CAN have too much of it and your body will tell you. So don't drink it daily, just as a boost unless you know you're needing it due to your body feeling better/energy levels going up.

Hope this is helpful to some here. I keep reading about lethargy here on TKD and thought I'd post.

Want to add that you should not add it anything like fortified soy or nut milks that contain calcium since calcium blocks iron absorption.
