I'm a grown woman, I've always been a picky eater - this past month I just got to trying lentils! Isn't that funny as can be? *laugh* I honestly didn't know what you DO with them - are they beans or grains? Do you soak them or what? I found a box mix of lentils with rice and went about asking the store help for all the info they could spare. I cooked them up, made them with dinner for my spouse and I and.... I liked them. I've been adding the leftovers to soups, pasta and other rice mixes. I kinda like this new sense of exploring foods and I sure hope to continue my adventure!

Oh I can hear the excitement you're experiencing from discovering new foods. And, I wanted to add that there are many types of lentils, too. The red ones are used in East Indian cooking & called dahl. Try making some dahl soup sometime...so delicious w/all the ginger, garlic & spices! Two of my other favorite ways to use lentils (just the plain brown ones) is by making lentil soup or a pasta sauce. These little legumes are easy to fall in love with for their taste, price & ease of cooking (one of the few legumes that requires no soaking)...you can pretty much find them anywhere, too.
