I have been a member of this site for some time, and was veg/vegan for some time as well. I got pregnant this year and fully intended on having a vegan pregnancy. Do you know how strong pregnancy cravings are? I didnt', now I do. I wanted cheeseburgers like I was never going to see a cheeseburger again. Any my ideal cheeseburger you may ask; is loaded with bacon, mayo, lettuce and tomato.....and cheese of course. Nothing about this is vegan. My husband (non-veg) and friends were in shock on and awe and the amount of cheeseburgers I ate....and how quickly I could eat one. Once I was vegetarian, about 3 years ago, I truly never thought I would eat meat again. Well, pregnancy happened. I was overwhelmed by this need to have a cheeseburger, right now.
At any rate, I gave in, and just tried to stay mostly vegetarian. I really fell of the vegan bandwagon however. After my little man was born (Aug 29), he was in NICU and my diet then consisted of hospital food and later fast food. My focus then switched to makeing sure I was producing breast milk, and to do that, you need to eat; so that is what I did. I ate, and didn't really care what it was, as long as I was makeing milk.
Now, almost 4 months after his birth, I am tired of feeling like crap and being bloated. It is also nearing time for him to start eating food. I thought if I'm going to feed him good, them I'm going to feed me good. So, yesturday, I made two batches of vegan cookies (they always get me through the first week or so of the vegan transition for some reason) and today I made a yummy bean and veggie soup.
Good Job on getting back, it only takes a couple weeks to start feeling amazing again. For those crazy cravings I always get my wife some Avanti Snickerdoodle cookies. They are amazing, We haven't had such a good snickerdoodle since before we were vegan. You can get them on there website: http://www.avantinaturalstore.com/store/vegan-snickerdoodle-cookies/. Unless you are located in Orange County, CA then you can go to there Restaurant. AMAZING!
