Need a replacement for Beef!

I live in a household with a bunch of meat eaters! I have just recently been introduced to The Kind Diet from seeing the book in a local Sprouts. Since my family eats a lot of meat, I am looking for good ways to replace beef. There are many recipes that we make with meat, and as of discovering this way of life, am no longer eating it. Is there something that I can substitute beef for, or should I stick to eating a meal fairly separate from that of my family's? I'm currently transitioning into the Flirt/Vegan faze, if that helps with suggestions! Please let me know if you have good substitutes or think I need to stick to different (Vegan) recipes! Thank you!
Hello Lee,
It takes time to make the transition, so don't feel discouraged... in the end it's really worth it.
In my opinion, seitan is a very good substitute for beef, it has a meaty flavor and is very tender. Try make your old recipes by just replacing beef by seitan and see what works best!
I still cook for my non-vegan boyfriend and he loves tofu burger crumbles. He says he can't tell the difference! I cook it like regular beef depending on the recipe. (For example; with tacos or taco salad, I use taco seasoning as directed.) It's yummy and kind! I've also heard good things about seitan but I haven't tried it yet so if you do let me know how it is! There's nothing like winning people over with yummy vegan food so I would suggest offering to cook FOR your family. Give them an opportunity to see that eating vegan is eating good.
Congrats on making the switch!
