I adopted 2 beauitful kittens over the summer, one is 10 months the other is 8.5 months since then I have been feeding them Wellness for kittens since it's a holistic brands that was highly recommended.
I noticed in the kind diet book Alicia shared a link of where to get info on raising vegan cats but the link appears to be outdated. To my knowledge Wellness is a good quality brand and the kitties are very healthy but it does of course bum me that I have to purchase animal products.. I Do want the best for my babies, is feeding them a non vegan diet bad for their heart/overall health since they are strictly indoor kitties and do not get as much exercise as outside kitties? Or is it better to just stick with the current brand because they are obligate carnivores by nature?
It is my understanding that cats cannot be vegan as they need Taurine which can only be found in animal tissue however I do think now they make a synthetic version which may be just as good.
While dogs can live on a vegetarian diet, cats cannot. Please do not raise them vegan. If anything, I would look into "Castor & Pollux" food. I believe they use organic meat.
