Hello all,

I'm a long time vegetarian, new vegan, looking forward to being an active member of the community! I'm a new mom to a beautiful 7 month old baby boy & am unsure of myself on raising him vegan. THat mainstream 'chatter' keeps coming up in my mind about him getting a well balanced diet, etc etc.... This is definitely something that I will be spending time inquiring about and learning more about on this site and others! Any encouragement is welcome or just say hi if you'd like!

Hello Songcatcher Siren, I am from Canada also, although I'm on the West Coast in Vancouver! I can imagine it must be challenging to try and raise your baby vegan in this non-vegan world of ours. How is it going so far?

ss.. i'm a fellow ontario girl. i live in oshawa, about 45 mins east of toronto. i too am a mom. i have 2 boys, one 12 year old (who decided on his own to be vegetarian) and my 2 year old that has been vegan since conception. there will always be people with opinions. those same people feed their children frozen chicken nuggets and fries all the time. no one is perfect, you just go with your gut and do your best. there are lots of foods i wish my boys would eat, i just do the best i can to make healthy, cruelty free and tastey food for them to enjoy. somedays they'll happily eat lentil soup with sauteed cabbage and kale.... others i'm pulling out jarred pasta sauce and cooking some noodles. we/they don't need have as much protein as everyone always seems to claim. and believe it or not, it's a sneaky thing that happens to be in a lot of veggies anyway! i'm an all or nothing kinda girl, but a lot aren't. just do what feels right. blah blah blah... i'll shut up now:)

We are also local, Whitby, Ontario. We have gone so far as to raise our pets as vegans as well.
There will always be critics all you can do is be informed and make the choices you feel are right for you and your family.

Hey,I'm from Winnipeg,MB, and I am a longtime vegetarian, and been "flirting" with veganism for a while. Quite hard, especially during these cold winter months here in Canada! I am so excited though to discuss everyones' journey, and (hopefully) go full-fledged vegan! The Kind Diet is like a Bible to me :)

Hi. I am from Ottawa. Been a vegetarian for about 5 years but now working towards veganism. As you said hard here in Canada. I started by buying only local ingredients from local farms so I knew how the animals were treated but my husband is lactose intolerant so it was pretty easy with the dairy. He loves eggs though so I am on my own for that.
