Hi everyone in Chicago!! My husband and I will be relocating to the Chicago area in a couple of months and we are wondering if anyone can let us know about neighborhoods that are in the suburbs but still not too far to work in the city? We also have a car that we need to be able to park without too much trouble since our 6 year old is handicapped. We will just be renting a place for a while, not buying. Is there a place that has decent access to a train into the city as well? And of course, any great vegan places to eat??? Thank you ahead of time for anyone that can help. I can't wait to get there!!

Hi Laura!
I've lived in Chicago for the majority of my life, and I'd say either lakeview, Lincoln park, or roscoe village sound good for you. Many families live in the roscoe village area, parking is more accessible there and it's a safer area (though all three areas I mentioned are pretty safe as far as city living goes). I loved living in Lincoln park, but it is more expensive and I didn't have parking to worry about so street parking wasn't an issue for me, and I could usually find parking on my block Bt not necessarily in front of my appt. Lincoln park and lakeview are both great areas, with good public transportation into the city, but pricier and less parking. Roscoe village definitely still has bus service my friends use all the time that takes them to the "L" from there; this may be your best option. I love Chicago and am moving back in April. You have to check out the Chicago diner, it's the best food I've ever had vegan or not. Have fun and feel free to post with any more questions :)
