Hi Sara count me in too I would love to be your buddy and anyone else out there. I am a veggie too and what some people call vegan-ish as I do eat eggs but only becaue they are from my chickens....I am always looking for support out there and people to swap recipes with and any motivational tips and stories.....I am looking forward tobeing a part of this connection with everyone .....much love all round
Hi to all the veg buddies out there! Can anyone recommend a good vegan cheese, preferably one without soy? I've tried some soy based "cheese" but I think they upset my stomach.
Thanks to you all!
Hoping I can help too. I'm not veggie or vegan yet either, I try but it's hard when you have a family of meat-eaters which includes 2 young boys who don't always finish their meals- what do you do, do you eat their meat or throw it out. That said, one of my sons is dairy intolerant so I am always on the lookout for dairy alternatives. Also I don't agree with dairy cow practices so I have given up dairy for ethical reasons. Very rarely will I consume eggs. I do cook veg or vegan meals quite often, I hope to become vegan one day too.
@Bogette. The only cheeses I consume are soy/tofu based but this book is on my wishlist- "Artisan Vegan Cheese" by Miyoko Skinner. Many cheeses are made with nuts. I would love to make some cheeses for my little boy.
Hello all, just wanted to say thanks for friending me or accepting my request! I am excited to start this and know all of you are too. Looking forward to getting and giving support on my journey to a kinder life.
Bogette- there are rice and almond cheeses that are really good. I especially like rice "cheese" mozarella and pepperjack singles slices. I get them at Whole Foods, but you have to be careful that it does not have caesin as an ingredient, which is a milk derivitive. I also tried the cheddar, but it was pretty flavorless.
Hi there, I am brand spanking new, have launched into a vegan diet as of 3 days ago. I'm kind of an all or nothing person, but would love to be buddies with others for advice recipes stories etc :)
I would also love to give/get some support too. I've been a vegetarian for over 24 years (not a healthly one though I have chosen to be a vegetarian for the animals) and now I am trying to become vegan (for the animals I love and my health finally too). I would love to give any support and get some encouragement too! I've been vegan for about two weeks now - really focusing on losing weight and getting healthy eating whole food (mostly greens and things) - and I'm feeling terrific so far! All the best to everyone out there trying!
I could use a buddy or two! I just started. I'm doing vegetarian but, I am working on phasing outmy dairy as well. My goal is full vegan. But, the dairy is hard. I never realized how much I took in. I feel like I'm on a strange and scary journey all alone! My friends and family think I'm a wierdo hippie! I take that as a complement! :)
Hi All! I'm in the same boat as Stacey, I've been vegan since the 1st of the year and I was a vegetarian for 6 years prior. It's hasn't been easy going but I haven't slipped up yet. I'd also love to have a support system through this awesome website too so friend me! One issue I'm having is that I'm avoiding going out to eat like the plague b/c I don't think there will be anything for me here (I live in a small town where vegans are practically nonexistant). Any tips on eating at restaurants and being vegan? Other than ordering a plain salad w/o cheese and asking for vinegar as the dressing? Thanks!
Hi MK, I'm vegetarian and currently transferring to vegan, I've always been afraid to eat out because I just don't trust other people to prepare my food and I find a lot don't even know what vegan/vegetarian mean. Anyway, if I can't eat @ a veg restaurant I have to ask the wait staff /chef a lot of questions before ordering. Also, it never hurts to ask if dishes can be prepared without meat, chicken, etc...and/or dairy free, meat free sauces.... I find that a lot of restaurants will try to accommodate you.
