so i've been vegan for 3 1/2 years. my skin seems to have taken a turn for the worse in the last couple years. i have a huge frown line between my eyes, laugh lines beside my mouth and random dark patches on my chin and forehead. i wear sunscreen regularly and am always in a hat all summer. i feel like i've tried everything! i use good vegan/organic products and lots of coconut oil. any insight would be soooo helpful. it makes me really depressed.... and my husband thinks i'm beautiful and gets so upset with me when i complain but i am so sad when i see pictures in myself.
Don't worry, V Momma! You sound like you just need more water. Get in the habit of carrying a bottle or jar of water with you and tell yourself you'll drink whenever you feel a little tired during the day. Also, I've tested so many skin care products and these are the best and are phthalate and paraben free!
-- Tallulah Jane's body oils ($38). These are amazing. I mean, truly; the best I've ever tested. And there is not one ounce of oil slick after application. Iuse it all over, including on my face. I think it's the meadowfoam oil, which is known for being an excellent barrier against The Elements for skin.
-- Raw shea butter. I often get the big tub from "Vermont Soap", but they also sell small sized tins ($6 -- $40). It's wonderful stuff. It leaves a smooth, even sheen on your skin that makes it look perfect and it's not greasy or sticky. A little goes a long, long way.
Both have some natural sun protectant in them, which helps as well. Also, check your sunscreen. Some sunscreens can be very drying. Also, make sure you're getting enough calcium, folate, B vitamins and magnesium, for vegans, it can be found in spinach, seaweed and pumpkin seeds. Also, stick to gentle castile soaps. Try Dr. Bronner's "Lavender" magic soap and Vermont Soap's "Aloe Baby Bar". Lavender and rosemary castile soap is good for gentle cleansing and increasing circulation.
