soy products: the fermented and unfermented soy issue and in general, healthy or unhealthy?

I've seen some articles about soy being unhealthy, especially unfermented soy and wanted to check in with the Kind Life community on this, since research online being what it is today with so many conflicting things written by people with various motivations, I don't know who to believe.
Basically I am trying to understand and respond to the claim that there are many, at least dozen or so, harmful effects of soy, less so for fermented soy but even here, many down sides. I won't go into the details as I'm sure some of you have come across this info as well. But if not, I can copy and paste from one of the articles I recently read if necessary. Hoping the truth is somewhere in here...
Thanks,
Brian
Hello Brian, I unfortunately do not have a definitive answer for you, but I do have my opinion and a couple of resources for you. I know that there are many varying opinions out there on-line. I hate things like this that even "experts" can't seem to agree on. I would trust reputable vegan doctors opinions. The main thing I have heard about soy is that organic soy is fine in moderation, like anything else in our diet. So, this makes sense for me and it has become my approach. Dr. T. Colin Campbell says it is fine in moderation and has many health benefits (see article on his website at http://www.tcolincampbell.org/courses-resources/article/soy-and-your-health/?tx_ttnews%5BbackPid%5D=76&cHash=ddcd58da85 ). Dr. Neil Barnard says soy has many benefits as part of a vegetarian diet in a Huffington Post article http://www.huffingtonpost.com/neal-barnard-md/settling-the-soy-controve_b_453966.html Personally, I eat soy in the tofu and tempeh forms a few times a week. I have started using almond milk instead of soy milk so I don't overdo it with soy. I really hope this helps! Good luck Brian!
Thanks, Amy, this is helpful. Everything in moderation, right? : )
