Shower curtain liners

My shower curtain liner seems to get rather moldy. I try to clean it because I don't want to throw the plastic away, but the mold seems to be really stuck in. Does anyone know anything about eco-friendly shower curtain liners? The internet says EVA plastic is eco-friendly but is it? Seems it's still plastic.
