My new favorite seasoning for beans

As a recovering Southerner, I love a good pot of pinto beans with cornbread. But since becoming a vegan, the beans were missing the smoky flavor that hamhocks or bacon rind used to impart.
Hallelujah! I found a little seasoning called Liquid Smoke (about $3 in the spice section) and it adds a delicious smoky flavor to beans, soups or stews - just a teaspoon or two in the pot works wonders!
Thought I'd share - umami rules!!! :)
I love liquid smoke in my chickpea patties!
