Hair Dye

This is probably a very stupid thing to ask, but are there safe or safer hair dyes out there? When I was a kid I would sometimes lighten my hair by using lemon juice, before I go out into the sun. Now, I'd like more options. I just used a popular brand hair dye, and ended up feeling really sick. So I guess I'll have to check that off the list of of products I can no longer use because of my chemical sensitivity.
Hi Nik,
There are a variety of natural hair dyes on the market. At health food stores such as Whole Foods, you can find dyes that are similar "inky" formulas to conventional dyes. This includes brands such as Naturtint and Tints of Nature, which are formulated without some of the harsher chemicals. If you want something even gentler, I recommend looking for henna dyes. I've been using Light Mountain Hair Color to go from blonde to red for about two years, and it doesn't dry out my hair at all. I wrote a review here if you want more information:

Henna isn't just for red hair; brands such as Light Mountain have other natural hair dyes that use plants such as indigo as well. Best of luck!
