Nightshades

I am venturing into the vegan lifestyle (yay!). I've been trying to find reliable sources of information on nightshade veggies/fruits, but am finding a lot of conflicting information out there! Since I'm new to vegan-ism, I am hesitant to restrict myself from consuming ANY fruits or vegetables. Just wondering what your thoughts are on this group of foods (tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, eggplants, etc.).
i know that potatoes make swell and i feel like tomatoes meke me feel great but i don't know about the rest of the nightshades. If your just starting being a vegan my advise would be to eat whatever vegies you want. At this point you are restricting alot out your diet. Nows a good time to explore and find out all the different vegies you like. And then after that if you want to take nightshades out of your diet you will be able to really tell how they afect you or don't afect you.
I definitely agree with Alexia. Don't restrict yourself in the beginning. Remember to eat until you're satisfied! I think new vegans tend to forget that they can eat much more than they did on a meat-based diet without extra calories.
I agree! Go crazy with fruits and veggies at first. Becoming a vegan changed my taste buds so much. I enjoy all kinds of vegetables that I use to hate. Just remember everything in moderation. Eating the same thing over and over isn't appealing or healthy. Your body definitely appreciates when you switch it up. Also, try to buy organic whenever you can.
Nightshades are inflammatory and may cause any health conditions you have to flare up.But as everyone else said since you are new I would possibly eat them in moderation to see if it causes you any problems.
Thanks for the advice everyone! I'm not going to worry too much yet. Maybe down the road, once I'm a little bit more comfortable in the vegan lifestyle, I will think about cutting down on nightshades, or even cutting them out all together.
