Kind Mama: The Book Trailer

I’m excited to share with you the new trailer for my latest book The Kind Mama: A Simple Guide to Supercharged Fertility, a Radiant Pregnancy, a Sweeter Birth, and a Healthier, More Beautiful Beginning, coming out next April (but you can pre-order it now).  Check out the debut on

About The Kind Mama

When did making babies get to be so hard? Infertility is on the rise globally, affecting as many as one in six couples. But instead of considering diet and lifestyle factors, doctors pump their patients full of expensive and invasive fertility treatments. Once pregnant, women just accept that carrying a baby will be the gassy, swollen, irritable and sleepless nightmare that has become the new normal — and then they assume that new motherhood will be just as challenging, from breastfeeding woes to screaming fits.

It doesn’t have to be that way. In The Kind Mama, Alicia Silverstone has created a comprehensive and practical guide that empowers women to take charge of their fertility, their pregnancy and the first six months with baby. Drawing on her own experience as well as that of obstetricians, midwives, nutritionists, holistic health counselors and others, Silverstone offers advice on getting one’s “baby house” in order through nutrient-rocking foods and gentle ways to boost comfort, energy and health during each trimester of pregnancy. She helps readers navigate everything from prenatal testing and birth plans to successful breastfeeding and creating a supportive “baby nest.”

The result is an authoritative, one-stop guide that empowers women to trust their instincts during this vital milestone while helping them embark on a healthy and more vibrant path to motherhood.

I’d love to see “the kind mom” I am done having kids, but want to raise them in a more healthy manner. We’ve been junking it up w/pop tarts, boxed cereal, lunchables etc…and I want better for myself and my kids.

Yay for you – I had a difficult start with hyperemesis gravidarium but I realise now I had anxiety and my supplement was affecting me too (if I travel back in time I’d give myself a hug). I had a beautiful homebirth with my little one (she’s turning 12 next month) attended by 2 midwives who saw me all the way through pregnancy. I also managed to breastfeed until my daughter was almost 6 years (it was a struggle but again a wise lactation consultant really helped and I had La Leche League militant breastfeeding support on the end of the phone. I wanted the birth to be beautiful and it was (Gill Thorn author was my birth counsellor and she really helped me to learn about how to make birth work for us). I feel really blessed by my little one and am so glad that I worked out to make things work positively. The Mother magazine in the UK has also been an inspiration to me with my parenting. I am looking forward to your book. :)

Great trailer Alicia! Best wishes on your new book! I wish it was available when I was pregnant many moons ago.

Alicia! I am so excited about this! I can’t wait!!! I went veggie since March of this year and found it a little roguh but now I feel amazing! I am now trying to get pregnant. We’ve been trying for a little over 3 months now but nothing so far… We’re both stressed at work so I think that might be a big factor. I had seen earlier this year that you were collecting info for this book and I kept hoping it would be out by the time I need it and that may just be the case! Really looking forward to it!

This is absolutely awesome to see. Huge congratulations!
I went vegan 20 years ago, had a super healthy pregnancy a few years later. I decided to listen to my heart and take inspiration from what I felt inside rather than what I was being told ‘out there’! My birth was really fast and mostly painless, because I felt that it was the most natural thing in the world. Your book excites me so much, because back then, I was so alone… every ‘alternative’ choice I made went against the grain has proved, after all this time to be remarkable. This is amazing gift for women going through birth at this time.
    Thank you for being you!
    with love

I would love a book on raising healthy children & helping them make better choices & understand why I don’t want them to eat certain things. The Kind Child perhaps?
