LA kind lifers, have you visited the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI)? It’s located in Downtown LA and features a wide range of monthly events. It’s a place where entrepreneurs, engineers, scientists and policymakers can collaborate, promote and support the development of clean technologies and LA’s green economy. Check out their website to read all about the stellar projects incubatees are up to (electric airplanes! Homeboy Recycling! electric bikes!, and so much more.) LACI is housed on the La Kretz Innovation Campus, which features several great sustainability components; 175 kilowatt photovoltaic solar canopy, greywater filtration, and bioswales.
I went to an event in celebration of my friend Matt Peterson becoming LACI’s CEO and it was such a fun night. The food was catered by Pretty Young Things and it was so good! It was all vegan except one fish dish, yay for them having vegan as default! The beet tequila cocktails were also delicious, thank you Apotheke! I met awesome people at this party! Pictured below is Senator Ricardo Lara, such a happy and kind man. In addition to being in the California State Senate, he is vice chair of the CA Legislative LGBT Caucus and vegan!
LACI excites me because if you have an eco idea you want to see to fruition, your dream could come true there. It provide a resource for green entrepreneurs, organizations, technologists, you name it. This place is up to great things, watch this video below to learn more!
