I normally bring my own food to set, but today, I had been up since 5AM, and already ate the meal I brought. So what to do? Breakfast was being catered, so I got creative and ordered a veggie breakfast burrito. My burrito had beans, rice, guacamole, hash browns, and pico de gallo, along with sauteed mushrooms, zucchini, onions, spinach, scallions, tomatoes, and some cilantro. If you like a spicy kick, you can even throw in some jalapeno. Yum - it was so tasty! Film industry folks, if you find yourself on set and need a yummy veg meal, create this! You can also order a version of this meal at lots of restaurants if you find yourself at a place where veg options are limited.
What are your go-to dishes in situations like this?

Finding vegetarian or vegan food on set is a real challenge! I know some sets will try to have at least one main vegetarian item, but there is usually plenty of fruit to snack on.

Personally regarding my food I'm not very enthusiastic at the idea of having a completely vegan diet, I could do more serious research but as far as I'm concerned without even considering anything of what I've read I don't think any possible benefits are worth making the sacrifice... I could have done it to lose weight but there are more pleasant ways to eat less calories... I'm not a very big fan of comparisons either, depending how it's made it can be funny for the person reading them but myself and everybody I know consider that we don't understand anything when reading things here... I don't know how to put that but there are things I believe someone don't do at work...

Somebody succeeded in touching you the right way
It's a extremely good idea to at least try to bring your food with you, in my opinion basically everything possible should be done to avoid spending more than a few days without sunshine.... I find it difficult spending a few days without blogs... Personally I cannot tolerate being without sleep for a long time but I wanted to find a solution to my sleeping problems anyway, maybe it's going to vanish on it's own...

Thanks for the heads up! I'm always on sets (though low budget) and I make sure that craft is mostly vegetable based products.

I like that picture for the TV show "Suburgatory", but I checked and your name doesn't seem to be listed in the credit... I've read they're producing a serie with actress Barbara Hershey playing the devil, personally even if Hershey is not a high-end chocolate I prefer that to Mrs. Salt if it's took intelligently...

I'm always making up my own meals :) Most restaurants have fairly decent veggie options, so I just amend them a bit. My standard Pizza at our local italian consists of as many veggie toppings as they can pile on their crust (dairy free), with a drizzle of olive oil and pine nuts. I got dragged to a burger place in my old neighbourhood a few times. Instead of their falafel burger which came with all sorts of cheese and things, I got a plate of burger toppings: sweet potato, beetroot, portobello mushrooms, eggplant, and some peanut sauce for dipping! Of course they thought I was crazy, but it was super delicious!
I've ordered indian food 'without the ghee' and at our local cafe I mixed and matched the paninis so that I could have hummous and roasted vegetables. It became so popular that they added it to their menu as their main veggie option!
I also ask places to use oil instead of butter or lard when frying. And if anyone ever comes over to London, The Savoy and The Langley will do a vegan menu for afternoon tea if you request it ahead of time! They will even make the scones dairy-free.

If possible and you're at a Mexican or Tex-Mex place, ask for black beans instead of refried beans. They tend to be whole and plainly cooked, so you don't have to worry about hidden lard.

I can relate. I'm in sales and spend most of my day in and out of my car. I always bring a cooler except I forgot to load it into my car one day last week and was very hungry. There were no resturants near by so I ended up getting a drive throw taco bell bean burrito (no cheese) and got some guac on the side. Yours sounds so much more interesting! This happens only about 3 times a year as I prefer not to support the meat establishments. It did give me an opportunity to tell the cashier I was vegan and hand her a veg brochure. :)

There's a subject who interest me and I don't remember having read anything about it here, I always tought it was a good idea to buy organic and biologic food whenever possible, where I do the groceries they have a wide variety of them but I didn't wanted to pay the extra without knowing what it's all about before...

Funny, guess you weren't too keen on the whole 'burrito' deal! BUT, that's what we are always doing as veg-heads, aren't we? We have to utilize what's available, make sure it has protien, carbs, and of course...lots of veggies! I hope in that industry the craft services start to realize that more and more folks enjoy a full variety of veggie foods whether they are being health contious or weight watching, or just needing their vitamins, etc. Hope you're enjoying your time filming on the set!

that sounds so good! I almost always get beans rice quac and chips, but when at my fav mexican restaraunt in town I add potatoes to that. However, how do you know the beans aren't in lard? I never ask because I used to work in restaruants and even though I never lied to customers I know a lot of waiters who did because they didn't understand or care or were too lazy to check.

Your burrito sounds great!
Fruit is my go-to breakfast when traveling or limited options. If I need something to keep me full longer, oatmeal with berries or bananas.
