Just to let you know, Chipotle is having a trial run on selling tofu. They are only selling tofu in San Francisco and nearby locations. They're a bit far for me to travel to. The newsaper was advertising a trial run on Tofu Bowls. If you want a total vegan expierence at 'Chipotle' go for rice, salsa, guacamole, tofu, veggies, black beans. I read on their site that they cook their pinto beans with bacon and that their cheese is not vegetarian cheese, they use a rennet cheese product. Well, Good Luck Cali Kind lifers!

I have retreived my newspaper that gave me the info so, here it is!
"Chipotle Test Spots'
"Chipotle Mexican Grill locations that will offer the new meatless option starting Tuesday:"

San Francisco: 525 Market Street., 121 Fourth St and 126 New Montgomery St.

Millbrae: 136 El Camino Real

San Mateo: 2019 Cress and 251 E. Third Ave.

Here's what the paper says:

"Starting Tuesday, Chipotle will add a new vegan burrito filler made with tofu from Oakland's Hodu Soy to the menu at seven Bay Area restaurants. If diners approve, Chipotle says it will add the tofu dish, called Sofritas, to restaurants across the country, part of the company's effort to hone its 'reputation as healthier and more earth-friendly than its fast-food competitors. That move could also catapult Hodo Soy from a locally grown, 30-or-so employee company into a major supplier for one of the country's most popular quick-serve food chains."

The rest of the paper informs : "Bay Area vegetarians first have to approve of Chipotle's new dish, which will compete with the likes of San Francisco's Gracias Madre and Berkeley's Flacos, popular vegan Mexican eateries, and dozens of veg-friendly taquerias in San Francisco's Mission District."

"The San Francisco Vegetarian Society has given Chipotle's idea a thumbs ups, and the Maryland based Vegetarian Resource Group, predicts the new dish to be a hit."

"Chipotle already has a loyal fallowing of vegetarian costumers who order meat-free versions of it's tacos and burritos." Chipotle was hailed as the No. 1 choice among vegetarians for quick-serve food in s survey by Vegetarian Resource Group, which educates the public about vegetarianism."

Chipotle tried to keep a vegan/vegetarian burrito but it was pulled off the menu. Let's make the SECOND TEST RUN A WINNER!!!!

Well, if your not able to make it to Chipotle for their vegan/vegetarian food or new tofu dish, Subway and Burger King has vegetarian options! ENJOY!

I just wanted to say that the Chipolte down the street from my work has this and I'm having it for lunch today. Delicious is all I can say!!! I want to try to eat there more often to support them so this becomes permanent on the menu and in more locations.

Hi Peggy! I'm so glad that you are going to give such support to help the vegetarian/vegan community! I appreciate it very much! I'm in Oakland so I cannot make it to San Francisco and their other locations as much as you can. Thanks again for trying to keep this option on the menue! You should be praised my the vegetarian/vegan community. Once again, thank you for all of your efforts to support 'Chipotle's' veggie bowl!
Wishing you the best of luck!
