I found out about this project recently and was pretty blown away. Poaching is DEVASTATING. And this technology developed by Air Shepherd can really help a stop to it!
John Peterson chairman of the Lindbergh Foundation shares some more info with us below on this game changing resource and how we can help:
We utilize supercomputer-based predictive modeling (developed by University of Maryland for the US military in Iraq), to do pattern recognition from large databases of topography, weather, time of day, animal behavior, past events, and ingress and egress routes – all of which allows us to be able to anticipate where the animals (and poachers) will likely be. Once we have this information, we coordinate with the the local rangers. We get there first! The poachers get arrested before they have a chance to harm the animals.
We’ve tested the system components and they all work exceptionally. The drone technology dramatically decreases poaching and the predictive modeling has been shown to be highly accurate in identifying problem areas on a changing, day-to-day basis. The combination is unexcelled.
When we fly our drones, the poaching stops!
Seven countries want us to help them with their poaching problems.
We’re funding this through a major Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign. We have a great video where you can learn more at www.airshepherd.org.
Our funders will literally be able to say that they directly contributed to elephants and rhinos escaping extinction on this planet.
