Bear is so thrilled about his Jewish heritage. When I first told him he was Jewish, he couldn’t believe it and was so excited. In his six-year-old brain he thinks it’s the coolest thing in the world. It’s so innocent and sweet! He doesn’t really know anything about it besides it’s his best friends heritage and us going to temple on once. I’m figuring how to help him get in touch with it, I’m still on a journey to find out if there’s a temple feels like home to us. This is our plan for Hanukkah this year; make latkes together, play with his dreidel (he’s been carrying his around all week, even though isn’t a real deal dreidel – just a simple spinner), get a used menorah to light candles each night, and possibly give some little treats (I’m thinking vegan chocolate gelt).
What sweet innocent traditions do you have? What kind of food do you serve? I’d love to hear from you!
