This is a simple Apple Pie recipe that I’ve made numerous times.
Prep Time: 60 min. | Cook Time: 60 min.
Ingredients
1.25 cup All Purpose Flour
.5 cup Vegetable Shortening
.25 tsp Salt
3 tbsp Ice Water
2 tbsp Minute Tapioca
6 Sliced Apples
.75 cup Sugar
1 tsp Cinnamon
Directions
Whisk flour and salt, cut in shortening until crumb-like.
Drizzle ice water and and toss mixture with fork until mixture sticks together.
Gather dough, wrap in plastic and chill for 30 minutes.
Roll out dough for pie plate.
Sprinkle minute tapioca in bottom of pie (might need more than 2 tbsp).
Lay sliced apples while adding a little of the sugar and cinnamon between every layer.
Lay pie crust over top, press down the edges, cut holes, brush with soy milk (or almond milk, rice milk, etc.) and sprinkle sugar.
Bake in oven for one hour at 350°F.
If your pie is quite thin, one hour might be too much, but for a standard 5cm deep, 24cm in diameter pie plate, it will be perfect.
