Earth Day is everyday for us! The official holiday this Sunday, April 22 is a great occasion to get out and spread the kind. For all of you East Coast Kind Lifers, bring along your friends and family to some of these Earth Day celebrations:
1. New York – If you’re in New York City there are tons of events for you to choose from. Earth Day NY puts on Passport to Green New York, which is an eco-scavenger hunt through five boroughs that highlights some of the green opportunities throughout the city. Sounds fun and cool. A great event for kids and us big kids too! There’s also a free festival from Thursday, April 19 through Saturday, April 21 called Earth Fair NYC, with green companies, artists, musicians, and interactive exhibits that inspire New Yorkers to be more conscious of living a greener lifestyle. Also, check out Central Park for Earth Day Holiday Crafts in Central Park on Thursday April 19 from 2-4pm and Earth Day Celebration in Central Park on Sunday April 22.
2. Boston – Boston is throwing some celebrations as well! If you’re a runner, jogger, or walker, join the Race Against Extinction 5K (pets are invited!). They’re donating to environmental organizations like The Nature Conservancy and others. Radio 92.9 EarthFest will be showcasing environmentally friendly products, groups and activities with live music. If you’re in Massachusetts, but not in Boston proper, you can find a bunch of events on the Mass.gov website.
3. Washington, D.C. – If you’re in the D.C. area you can celebrate Earth Day on the National Mall on Sunday April 22 with speakers, activities, an eco-friendly expo and big musical guests like Sting, John Legend, and Mavis Staples. That sounds kinda amazing! You can also help clean the Earth on Saturday April 21 at the Anacostia Watershed to help keep our rivers clean. Check out some other events and festivals for D.C. HERE.
4. Florida – If you’re in Central Florida you can check out the Central Florida Earth Day Celebration on Saturday April 21st at Lake Eola Park with speaker panels, music, a Kids Zone, food and more. Fun for kind mamas, papas, and kids!
